INTERSHIP INDONESIA
—The program in Java is set to launch in April 2025. To give it a strong start, we are offering this opportunity at a reduced rate—-
Semarang, a vibrant city in Java, Indonesia, offers you the chance to support our project by providing sports lessons to children and youth from underprivileged neighborhoods. In these areas, you will encounter “movement poverty,” where children often have limited access to sports and physical activities.
As sports trainers, you have the opportunity to inspire and motivate these children to become active and embrace a healthy lifestyle. By offering lessons in their favorite sports, you can not only improve their physical health but also boost their confidence and teach them essential life skills.
Semarang itself provides a lively and enriching environment for your internship. With its rich history, cultural attractions, and welcoming community, it is the perfect place to make a difference while gaining an unforgettable experience yourself.
In Semarang, poverty is a challenge that many people face. Although Semarang is a key economic center in Central Java, parts of the city struggle with severe poverty, particularly in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Families often lack access to sports facilities.
By collaborating with local organizations and schools, you can make a positive impact on the lives of these children, while also gaining valuable life lessons and creating memories that will last a lifetime. Together, we can break the cycle of poverty and physical inactivity, paving the way for a healthier future for the children of Semarang.

WHO IS THIS INTERNSHIP SUITABLE FOR?
Your goal as an intern is not necessarily to train Indonesia’s next international athlete, although that could happen. You don’t need to be an experienced coach or hold certifications. However, having a basic understanding of the sport you’ll be teaching is certainly helpful. Most importantly, you should bring enthusiasm to your lessons.
This internship is ideal for students in sports-related fields, as well as those studying event/leisure management, marketing, education, social sciences, or cultural studies. It’s important to know that you will primarily work as a sports coach and/or instructor. In Indonesia, you can choose to spend some days at the office working on your school or internship assignments. Some exciting project ideas include organizing a large-scale sports event, integrating your sport into the curriculum, conducting research, or setting up a fundraising event.
We are always open to accommodating your specific interests. It’s also possible to conduct research while in Indonesia—feel free to contact us to explore the possibilities.

ARRIVAL WEEKEDS
In Indonesia, you can arrive any weekend. Please note that in March and August there are holidays, during which summer and winter camps are organized..
2025
The programme starts in April
I’m a vegetarian. Will my dietary preferences be accommodated?
- If you inform us in advance that you are a vegetarian, arrangements can be made to accommodate your dietary needs in Indonesia.
What do I need to consider when traveling abroad?
- After our initial conversation, where everything is discussed, you’ll have some time to decide if this adventure is right for you. If you choose to go ahead, we will schedule a second conversation with you, during which we’ll go through the ‘Welcome Pack’ together. This pack contains all the details you need to consider, including what to bring, vaccinations, and other important preparations.
Can I also intern for less than four weeks?
- For your own personal development, it is best if you are abroad for a longer period of time. If you go for less than four weeks, you will have more of a ‘holiday’ experience. That is why it is only possible to do an internship from four weeks onwards. To have the best learning experience, we recommend going for 12 weeks or longer.
How many other interns will be there?
- There are always other interns/volunteers present at the accommodation in Indonesia. The size of the group varies between 5 and 15. They do not all come from your home county. You can contact us to ask how many others will be there during your period. We will also create a group app with other people from your home country who will be making the trip in the same time frame. This way you can get to know each other in advance.
