At the Power of Sports, you enrich your own life and that of the people around your project with an internship abroad. We always have a number of fun vacancies where you can get started. Extremely suitable for events, sports, culture and social studies.

An internship at the Power of Sports, as the name suggests, always involves sports. We use sports as a means to tackle various (social) problems among vulnerable youth from disadvantaged neighborhoods. By being involved in sports, children learn a number of important social qualities.

The children and young people in our programs are not offered structural sports. That is why we offer sports programs in many different sports. We offer these activities in a safe environment, which means they come into contact with crime less often. In addition, they learn crucial skills that they will benefit from for the rest of their lives.
As an intern at the Power of Sports, you will never go on an adventure alone. As soon as you are convinced of one of our many projects, you can register with us and we will be happy to schedule a no-obligation meeting with you. We will then introduce you to interns and/or volunteers in the Netherlands who are traveling to the same country as you.
This way, you can coordinate practical matters, such as the trip, with each other. It is possible to contact previous interns/volunteers or your coordinator in the country in question in advance.
An internship is not volunteer work. You will be given other tasks and will work more closely with the staff. These activities depend on your studies, knowledge and interests.

Our working method

Introductory meeting

Everyone gets an orientation interview from us. In this interview we explain everything about the country, your project, accommodation etc. Maybe you don’t know yet which location is best for you. During this meeting we can advise you which project suits you best.

Contact with project

After the orientation interview, we will give you contact details of the internship supervisor of the relevant project and a current/former intern. This way you can properly orientate yourself whether the project suits you and whether your wishes are feasible.

Departure interview

If you are certain that you want to do an internship at a project of The Power of Sports, we will plan a departure interview. In this interview we will tell you all the next steps, such as: flight, visa, which power outlet they use in the country of destination, etc. After this interview you will be well prepared for your trip.

Return interview

When you return from your project we are very curious about your story. We would also like it if you could also put this story on paper and share it with us so that we can put it on our website.

What we do

The children and young people in our programs do not have access to structured sports lessons (sometimes not even at school). That is why we provide them with high-quality sports lessons in the sports that are popular in the country in question and that they prefer to do.
The aim of the sports lessons is to use the power of sports to use children’s talent, develop social skills, improve health, make social problems discussable, initiate intercultural communication and promote social cohesion in neighborhoods.
