INTERNSHIP SAINT LUCIA
Saint Lucia is a small tropical island in the Caribbean with a population of approximately 180,000 people. The island captivates visitors with its lush beauty, cultural richness, and warm hospitality. Saint Lucia, a volcanic island, features dramatic landscapes and abundant flora and fauna. The capital, Castries, welcomes travelers with vibrant markets where local vendors display their goods. Here, the cultural melting pot of Saint Lucia unfolds, with African, French, and British influences blending together. The air is filled with the aroma of exotic spices and fresh fruit, while traditional music enlivens the streets with a festive atmosphere.
The island is a popular destination for honeymooners, but it faces significant social issues and poverty among certain groups. Approximately 26% of Saint Lucia’s population lives below the poverty line, earning less than $5.50 per day. Poverty is particularly prevalent in rural areas where unemployment is higher and access to basic services such as healthcare and education is limited.
These conditions often lead children and young people to encounter gangs. Our foundation addresses these issues through the power of sport, using it as a tool to guide and support children and youth. Through sporting activities, we provide them with an alternative outlet and teach essential skills such as teamwork, decision-making, leadership, and communication. Additionally, we offer swimming lessons, as many children and young people, despite being on an island, drown simply because they do not know how to swim. We also run a special ‘Women Empowerment’ program aimed at increasing female participation in sports.
On the island, you will work closely with national teams and have the opportunity to involve these internationals in the activities you organize. You will be engaged in underserved neighborhoods and at the national stadium of Saint Lucia.

WHO IS THIS INTERNSHIP SUITABLE FOR?
As an intern, your goal is not necessarily to train the next international sports star from Saint Lucia, though that could happen. You don’t need to be an experienced coach or hold any certifications, but a basic knowledge of the sport you will be teaching is useful. The most important aspect is that you bring enthusiasm and energy to your lessons.
This internship is ideal for students in sports-related fields, as well as those studying event/leisure management, social work, marketing, education, and cultural studies. It’s important to note that you will always be engaged as a sports coach. On Saint Lucia, you may also choose to spend some days in the office working on school or internship assignments. Some exciting projects include organizing large-scale sports events, integrating your own sport into the curriculum, conducting research, and setting up fundraising events.
We can always tailor the internship to your specific interests through a personal consultation.

I’m a vegetarian. Will my dietary preferences be accommodated?
- If you let us know in advance that you are a vegetarian, the team in Argentina will make sure to accommodate your dietary preferences.
Can I intern for less than four weeks?
- For your personal development, it is best to spend a longer period of time abroad. If you go for less than four weeks, it may feel more like a holiday experience. Therefore, we only offer intern opportunities starting from four weeks. To get the most out of your experience, we recommend staying for 12 weeks or longer.
What do I need to consider when traveling abroad?
- After our initial conversation, where everything is discussed, you’ll have some time to decide if this adventure is right for you. If you choose to go ahead, we will schedule a second conversation with you, during which we’ll go through the ‘Welcome Pack’ together. This pack contains all the details you need to consider, including what to bring, vaccinations, and other important preparations.
How many other people will I be there?
- There are always other interns/volunteers present at the accommodation in Saint Lucia. The size of the group varies between 10 and 20. They are not all from the same country. You can contact us to ask how many others will be there during your period. We will also create a group app with people from your home country who will be making the trip in the same time frame. This way you can even get to know each other.
