Short biography
My name is Beau and I am 21 years old. I study sports science at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. For my internship period in the 2nd year I was allowed to do an internship abroad.
At first I wondered what the people in the house would be like because I went alone, but I quickly found out that it was very cozy.
How satisfied were you with the guidance in your home country?
The guidance was very good. At first I was looking for which internship was ideal for me. The orientation interview with Ruben made sure that I knew exactly what I wanted to do. After this we always had good contact in the rest of the internship process.
My Story
When I heard that we could do an internship abroad, this seemed like a great opportunity. At first I wondered what the people in the house would be like because I was going alone, but I quickly found out that it was very cozy.
In addition, the projects we carried out were nice to do. They varied from very sweet pre-school children to playing football with seniors. This variety ensured that you experienced something different every day.
In our free time we did all kinds of things on the island. I liked everything we did, but the petit piton and quad biking were my favorite.
Personally, I would definitely recommend doing this internship if you have the opportunity.
What advice would you give to future interns/volunteers?
Make sure you apply plenty of sunscreen and drink enough water. I’ve seen quite a few people make the mistake of doing this.
