My story

For school I had to find an internship and thought “doing an internship in Holland is so normal, so let me combine my internship with something I love doing, travelling”. In the end I came to the organisation The Power of Sports, because I have a great passion for sport. At first I was really excited but also a bit nervous about what to expect. Until I arrived in South Africa. I met loads of lovely people who were all into sport and discovering new things. The internship is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had and probably ever will have. Working with great colleagues and really lovely children. A year after coming back, I still know exactly which school I had on which day and which children went with it, and I still know the names of my favourite children. The children were amazing, they’re content and over the moon with the smallest things you do for them or with them. Besides the schools, we also had brilliant staff who always made things really fun for us, from making our food to supporting us at the training sessions. If I ever get the chance to do this again, I’d do it in a heartbeat. In short, I had the time of my life there, laughed a lot and saw and did a lot. If you get the chance, or you’re wondering whether this is something for you, I’d definitely recommend it.
