Short bio

I was 18 during my time in Argentina and did an internship there for my Sport Studies course. I do a lot of sport myself, so I liked the idea of an internship where I could also do sport. I’m in the third year of the course and had wanted to do an internship in South America since year 1.

I did a marketing internship in which I drew up a marketing plan, made a welcome PDF with information for new interns, and organised events such as trips to Boca, tango dancing, films and markets. I was also responsible for the volunteers’ breakfast and managed the social media

How satisfied were you with the support from Holland?

The support back in Holland was good! I was well prepared for what to expect. I was also given the contact details of Alejandro, the project leader in Argentina, straight away. That way I could already get to know him. I was also added to a group chat with other Dutch people who were there at the same time as me!

I was well prepared for everything and knew what I needed to arrange. So I didn’t face any unpleasant surprises.

My adventure in Argentina was one of the best experiences ever. The volunteering at the projects is really rewarding and (most of) the children are super sweet. Buenos Aires is also a really beautiful city with lots to see.

During the internship there’s plenty of freedom to explore the city or make other trips. I went to Brazil and Uruguay, but also to Salta, a place in Argentina. But there’s also plenty to do and see in Buenos Aires itself.

Sleeping in the hostel was one of my favourite parts of the trip. It takes some getting used to, but it’s an easy way to make new friends and get to know the other volunteers. There’s something fun to do every evening, and eating out in Argentina is cheap and delicious.
