Hey, I’m Mees, I’m 20 years old and I’m in my third year of Sport, Management and Entrepreneurship (SM&O). I did a 20-week internship in Saint Lucia and definitely don’t regret it. I play hockey myself and do lots of outdoor sports

How satisfied were you with the support from Holland?

In Holland I was mainly busy choosing which country I wanted to go to. At the time, Ruben gave me loads of information about the different countries, which is why I eventually chose Saint Lucia.

Other than that, I could always easily reach Joel (the Saint Lucia coordinator) for information I needed for my studies.

In my 20 weeks I met loads of lovely people here who I can still call friends after my internship I was responsible for pre-school here and really enjoyed it. In the afternoons I mainly did swimming and I helped set up an open water swimming programme and a sailing programme.

In my free time here I mainly enjoyed going out with the whole house and the Friday activities. Climbing Grob Piton & Petit piton, ziplining, boat parties or scuba diving

It was all amazing!!!

What advice would you like to give future interns and volunteers?

It makes your life a lot easier if you bring a credit card. And I’ve seen more than enough phones get broken here, so it’s also handy to bring a backup
