SCHOOL TRIP | STUDY TRIP SOUTH AFRICA
Experience the incredible passion South Africans have for sport during a school or study trip to the Eastern Cape of South Africa. A school or study trip in South Africa can be one of the most fun and educational experiences to share with your classmates. You will see firsthand how The Power of Sport uses sports for various purposes in disadvantaged communities and how sport fosters unity in a divided South Africa.
Additionally, the trip includes interactive workshops, presentations, outdoor activities, and (sports) games with peers to learn from each other’s cultures. As the highlight, your group will compete against a well-matched local South African team.
Our school/study trips are always tailor-made. By combining competitive sports matches with outstanding excursions, we ensure your school or study trip becomes an unforgettable sports and cultural experience.
Community Projecten
Community Projects
A trip to South Africa wouldn’t be complete without contributing to one of our community projects in the many disadvantaged township areas. As part of your school or study trip, your group will have the opportunity to teach and mentor children and youth from local townships. Each group member will get the chance to coach their chosen sport(s) and share valuable knowledge with the children. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with the local community and give back to the neighborhoods your group visits during your stay in South Africa. Expect plenty of singing and dancing from the children as they show their gratitude for your time and efforts.
An important part of a successful trip is not only to see how sports are experienced and practiced in other countries but also to bond with peers by immersing yourself in a new culture. Throughout the trip, your group will have the chance to engage in a wide range of cultural activities and enjoy everything South Africa has to offer, from its stunning natural landscapes to vibrant local traditions and rich history.

About South Africa and Our Project
South Africa is a republic located at the southern tip of Africa. The country has a rich colonial history, with the Netherlands and England playing significant roles. One of the major challenges in contemporary South Africa is education. Due to extreme poverty and the aftermath of apartheid, many people still have limited access to education or face poor quality schooling.
As a traveler in South Africa, you will spend your trip in the Eastern Cape, with Port Elizabeth as your base. During your stay, you will sleep at the location of our foundation and visit our projects in the underprivileged neighborhoods (townships) of Port Elizabeth. The foundation uses sport as a tool to address social issues in these communities. The sports lessons aim to teach children important skills such as teamwork, decision-making, and leadership. Additionally, we offer educational support to help children develop their talents. We also provide awareness programs about HIV, AIDS, and gender equality. The program continues to grow, with approximately 18,000 children participating in our projects and activities each year!
Where Will You Be Staying?
All activities take place in the Eastern Cape, and you will spend every night at a beautiful accommodation in Port Elizabeth (P.E.). P.E. is a city with over 300,000 inhabitants. This port city is also known as the ‘Windy City’. As the name suggests, this area is ideal for surfing. In Port Elizabeth, three languages are spoken: English, Afrikaans, and Xhosa. The city is lively but not particularly beautiful. However, the surrounding region is stunning and offers an authentic African experience.

Nick Mould
Guide
Nick Mould is half English and half South African, just like he’s half footballer and half rugby player. In 2004, he swapped England for South Africa to dedicate himself to helping the underprivileged local community in Port Elizabeth. He has done so successfully and is always eager to share his story.
Sports in South Africa
Unlike in many other countries, football (soccer) is not the most popular sport in South Africa. The population finds rugby even more interesting. South Africans are also passionate about boxing, cricket, and, of course, football as well. Extreme sports like surfing, abseiling, and bungee jumping are also very popular. Unfortunately, the legacy of apartheid is still visible in the sports world, although this is changing. Rugby tends to be more popular among the white population, cricket is favored by the ‘coloured’ communities, and football is the sport of choice for the black population.
