SCHOOL TRIP | STUDY TRIP INDONESIA

Experience the lively sporting culture and warm hospitality of Indonesia on a school or study trip to this beautiful island nation. Together with your fellow students you discover how sport plays a connecting role in local communities, often in areas where sport brings positive change and togetherness. During the trip you take part in interactive workshops, presentations and (sports) activities with people your own age, learning plenty about Indonesian culture and traditions. And as a highlight, your group takes on the sporting challenge against local teams who play with passion and energy.

Our school and study trips are always tailor made. We combine competitive sports matches with special excursions, so your group enjoys an unforgettable mix of sport, culture and adventure.

Community projects

A trip to Indonesia is not complete without actively helping out at one of our community projects in local neighbourhoods. During your school or study trip you get the chance to give sports lessons to and coach children and young people in the area. Every group member can coach his or her favourite sport and share knowledge, which brings not only the joy of sport but also a connection with local people. Be prepared for lots of enthusiasm, grateful smiles and perhaps even traditional dance and song from the children to show their appreciation for your efforts.

A successful trip is not only about seeing how sport is experienced in another country, but also about real connection with people your own age and experiencing a new culture. Your group gets plenty of opportunities to take part in cultural activities and enjoy Indonesia’s unique nature, colourful traditions and rich history.

About Indonesia and our project

Indonesia is a vast island nation in South East Asia, known for its rich culture, tropical nature and diverse population. Despite its growing economy, the country still has great inequality, especially in education and sporting opportunities in disadvantaged areas.

During your stay in Indonesia you stay in Semarang, a bustling port city on the island of Java. From our base you visit various local neighbourhoods and schools where our foundation organises sports projects. Through sport we not only encourage children to be active, we also help them develop important skills such as teamwork, self confidence and perseverance. We also support educational activities that promote the children’s personal growth, and we pay attention to themes such as health, hygiene and equal opportunities.

Where will you be?

You stay in comfortable accommodation in Semarang, a city with more than 1.5 million inhabitants. Semarang is a lively city with a unique mix of colonial architecture, modern districts and traditional Indonesian culture. The region offers an authentic Indonesian experience, with markets, temples and beautiful nature nearby. Here you get to know the warm hospitality of the local people and experience the real Indonesia.

Sport in Indonesia

Football is by far the most popular sport in Indonesia, but badminton and basketball are also widely played. Traditional martial arts such as pencak silat are important and practised with pride. You also often see young people swimming, playing volleyball and surfing, especially in coastal places such as Semarang and Bali. Here, sport connects communities and encourages teamwork and respect.
