Short bio

Heyy, I’m 19 and I’m studying Sport Studies. I have various hobbies. I always prefer being outdoors. I love going swimming with friends and going for walks with family, and I fill my own time with reading. On top of that, sport is a big passion of mine.

How satisfied were you with the support before departure?

I’m very happy with the support before departure. We could easily get in touch if we had questions and the questions were answered quickly too.

My story

“Costa Rica is a really rewarding experience that I’ll never forget for the rest of my life.”

Nynke · internship in Costa Rica

I went to Costa Rica with two friends from my course. The most beautiful country on earth. There I worked at a Public High School. I really enjoyed my work and was able to make a real difference for the children. I taught them new sports, they became more confident and they enjoyed being active. These were also my goals. Some children also started to trust you and told you their stories. That’s really special. At the weekends we could explore the country with other volunteers/interns. We did some really fun things, like ziplining through the jungle, releasing baby turtles at a rescue centre, surfing, rafting and horse riding. Costa Rica is a really rewarding experience that I’ll never forget for the rest of my life.

What advice would you like to give future interns and volunteers?

In Holland we like to have everything under control. In Costa Rica I learnt that this isn’t always possible and that you have to trust in life. Pura Vida!
