Community Projecten

A trip to Indonesia wouldn’t be complete without actively contributing to one of our community projects in local neighborhoods. During your school or study trip, you’ll have the chance to teach and support children and young people through sports. Each group member can share their favorite sport and pass on their skills—bringing not only fun and excitement, but also creating meaningful connections with the local community. Be prepared for lots of enthusiasm, grateful smiles, and perhaps even some traditional singing and dancing from the children as a sign of appreciation for your efforts.

A successful trip isn’t just about seeing how sport is experienced in another country, it’s also about building real connections with peers and immersing yourself in a new culture. Your group will have plenty of opportunities to take part in cultural activities and enjoy Indonesia’s unique nature, vibrant traditions, and rich history.

About Indonesia and Our Project
Indonesia is a vast island nation in Southeast Asia, known for its rich culture, tropical landscapes, and diverse population. Despite its growing economy, the country still faces significant inequality, especially in access to education and sports opportunities in underprivileged areas.

During your stay in Indonesia, you’ll be based in Semarang, a vibrant port city on the island of Java. From our local hub, you’ll visit various neighborhoods and schools where our foundation runs sports projects. Through sports, we not only encourage children to be active, but also help them develop key life skills such as teamwork, self-confidence, and perseverance. In addition, we support educational activities that foster personal development. We also focus on important themes such as health, hygiene, and equal opportunities.

Where Will You Stay?

You’ll stay in comfortable accommodation in Semarang, a city of over 1.5 million people. Semarang is a lively place with a unique mix of colonial architecture, modern neighborhoods, and traditional Indonesian culture. The region offers an authentic Indonesian experience, with bustling markets, temples, and beautiful nature nearby. Here, you’ll experience the warm hospitality of the local people and get a real taste of Indonesian life.

Sports in Indonesia

Football is by far the most popular sport in Indonesia, but badminton and basketball are also widely played. Traditional martial arts like pencak silat hold cultural significance and are practiced with pride. You’ll also often see young people swimming, playing volleyball, or surfing, especially in coastal cities like Semarang and Bali. Sport brings communities together here, promoting teamwork and mutual respect.
